The Power of Why
We have all heard about the power of goal setting. It is literally the difference between succeeding in life and not. Goals are even more critical when it comes to building your home based business. Success is almost impossible without goals and how will you know you have arrived it you don't know where you are going.
There will be one goal that is different from the rest. One goal that is your main purpose for building your business. This goal is called your why. I am of the opinion that your why must have some substance to it. Meaning, it is a good idea to have some kind of deep emotional connection to your why. For instance, if your why is only to make more money, you will probably only be motivated for a very short time. While the prospects of growing your income is exciting, it’s hard for most to have an emotional connection to money.
Now, if we take your goal of making more money and go a little deeper, for instance purchasing your dream house or paying off the mortgage on your existing house, that goal is more likely to create a emotional connection that will provide a higher level of motivation that will get you through the tough times in your business which are inevitably going to come.
We could even go deeper and say that we are purchasing our family’s dream home that you will be watching your kids grow up in. Our purpose is still to make more money but by including a goal that we can actually visualize, a goal we can feel and touch, a goal that includes family, it becomes a powerful why that will create great purpose for your life, more so then just making some extra money.
Most people will probably have more then one goal for their business, most likely you will have several goals but you will probably only have one why. That one goal that has so much meaning that it is the one you focus on the most. It will be the one that you think about the most. The one you think about as soon as you wake, the one you think about as you are falling asleep and the one that occupies your dreams.
If you have made the decision to start your own home based business, and you have decided which company you choose to represent, do nothing else until you discover your why. If you are still on the fence about multi-level-marketing, know what it is you are trying to achieve before going any farther. Find out WHY you are thinking about starting a business and decide if this industry is congruent with your why. If it is, never stop trying to reach your goals, never stop until your why has become a reality. It will be the most rewarding journey of your life.
